Patrick Martin Biography
Patrick first got into bagpiping at a young age, (about 7) learning from his dad and later various pipe-bands. Whilst playing with his local parish band he was introduced to the uilleann pipes by Donal Duffy and took lessons with Padraig Donlon..later he became heavily influenced by recordings of piping legends Liam O'Flynn and Davy Spillane.
The bagpiping was kept up however, as he was enjoying pipe-band outings as well as ever increasing solo gigs of various kinds. Playing with Grade One St. Laurence O' Toole Pipe Band from Dublin for a few years was a great experience.
In order to keep his instruments in order he got interested in reed-making also, and studied the art at workshops around the country, through Na Piobairi Uilleann, booklets and more recently dvd and internet sources.
Other sounds started to appeal to this talented young man so he widened his scope to include low-whistles, tin-whistle and wooden flutes of various types and styles. He has been entertaining rapt audiences for many years now at many a special occasion, session, gig, concert and show throughout the world. He is also actively pursuing his passion for making instruments, and studying singing and guitar.
